I'll be the first to admit that I love a steaming, hot shower, especially in winter. But unfortunately, overtime, your skin will hate you for it! When the temperature of a shower is turned up too high, the hot water strips moisture from your skin. This can disrupt a healthy skin barrier as it strips the skin of healthy fats and oils that are necessary for our skin’s health.
This can lead to dehydration, skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, itchy and irritated skin, and an impaired skin barrier. An impaired skin barrier can result in sensitised skin and dehydration. This can lead to redness and inflammation on the face and skin.
