AHA's VS BHA's

Are you wondering if you should try an AHA, a BHA? Or maybe you have no idea what these terms even mean!

An AHA exfoliant (Alpha-Hydroxy Acid) is a type of acid that is derived fruit extracts, sugarcane or milk. AHAs are more of a surface level exfoliation as they work by peeling the dead skin away from the surface to reveal fresh, new skin cells from underneath. AHAs are perfect for dry skin types, mature aged skin and pigmentation skin.

A BHA Exfoliant (Beta-Hydroxy Acid) is a type of acid derived from willow tree bark, wintergreen leaves or sweet birch bark. BHAs work in the deeper layers of the skin as they are oil soluble. BHAs have the ability to penetrate in the pore and dissolves any blockages (clogged pores). This is great for treating acne prone skin and are also great for oily skin types & inflamed skin.

Both AHAs and BHAs are great chemical exfoliants that help to hydrate, brighten and firm the skin but knowing which is for you is important to get the most benefits out of your skin goals!

There are various different skincare products that contain AHA's and BHA's. Our Toning Mist contains AHA's, which help exfoliate the skin while toning at the same time. Double win! #organicrituals
